Hospice UK

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice care. Helping hospices to provide the best care to patients at the end of their life is at the heart of everything we do.

Facts about our job

  • Around 92,000 people die each year with unmet needs for palliative care.
  • Around 50% of 500,000 people who die each year will die in a hospital setting. Yet most people would prefer to be cared for at home or in a hospice.
  • Last year Hospice UK gave £3,895,000 to support those providing care.

Everyone, no matter who they are, where they are or why they’re ill, should receive the best care at the end of their life.

We champion and support the amazing work of more than 200 hospices across the UK, ensuring that their staff – doctors, nurses and volunteers – have the training, funding and resources they need to provide the best care to people living with a terminal illness. We’re the national voice for hospice care, raising awareness and lobbying the government to bring about real change. We also give grants to hospice care and health professionals in the UK and overseas.

Hospice care transforms lives. It’s with you through life, through death and through grief.
