Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support

We are millions of supporters, professionals, volunteers, campaigners and people affected by cancer. Together we make sure there’s always someone here for you, to give you the support, energy and inspiration you need to help you feel more like yourself again. We are all Macmillan.

Facts about our job

  • Macmillan reaches over 590,000 cancer patients yearly through our Macmillan Nurses. In addition to these patients, our Macmillan Nurses helped many more carers, family members and friends.
  • Our support line is staffed by cancer support specialists. They are here for everyone affected by cancer, whatever they need. They can answer questions about cancer types and treatments, provide practical and financial support to help people live with cancer, and are there if someone just wants to talk.
  • Our Macmillan Mobile Information and Support Services tour the UK throughout the year, offering free, confidential information and support to people in their communities. Anyone is welcome, whether they have a cancer diagnosis, are visiting on behalf of a friend or relative, or are worried about cancer. The services are staffed by Macmillan cancer information and support specialists who can offer a wide range of information and support tailored to a person’s individual needs. The Macmillan Mobile Information and Support Services have been successful in expanding their reach into off-unit activities such as information sessions, volunteer-delivered activity, corporate partnerships and other diverse support interventions such as static info-pods.

We want to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same.

There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow to 4 million by 2030. We want to make sure we can provide support to everyone who needs it, to help people affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives.

It’s a big task and we can’t do it alone. But there are lots of ways you can get involved and help us achieve our goal, from fundraising, to volunteering and campaigning. Together we are all Macmillan.

Monthly Donations

  • £5 per month or £60 annually

£60 could keep a typical Macmillan Information and Support Centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a week. These resources would include booklets, guides, directories and leaflets.

  • £7.50 per month or £90 annually

Every £90 we spend on our phone service could lead to our welfare rights advisers helping people affected by cancer claim £3,902 in benefits they are entitled to.

  • £10 per month or £120 annually

£120 could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for a day. They work with community and social services agencies to help people manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.

  • £20 per month or £240 annually

£240 could help run a small Macmillan information and support centre for a day
