The Children’s Society

It is a painful fact that many children and young people in England today are still suffering extreme hardship, abuse and neglect. Now is the time to act – to protect them, help them grow and change their lives for the better. Will you help?

Facts about our job

  • Last year we worked directly with 11,031 children and young people and reached a further 13,492 children and young people through our awareness raising work
  • We improved the lives of more than 500,000 children and young people through our contributions to policy changes. Our local campaigning work secured a groundswell of support for our call to help care leavers with council tax costs
  • Working with local authorities, we have been fighting child sexual exploitation for over 20 years

‘My project worker really helped because I had no one to talk to, I just had her and we really got on well. She would be on my side and listen to me. I’ve now stopped going missing because of her.’ Amanda 14

Right now in this country there are children who feel scared, unloved and like they simply don’t matter.  They’re not seen, they’re not understood, and they aren’t getting the help they need.

In fact, we know that a million children and young people in England are living with seven or more serious problems in their lives. Without the right help, this can be overwhelming and a lonely place to be.

This has to change. No child should feel alone.

Every child is unique and different, so are the problems they face.

It’s often complex. Today’s society isn’t set up to deal with so many young people with so many different problems.

We bring together what’s needed to help every child we reach lead the life they should have and realise their potential.

We listen, we support, we act.

We fight to improve life for children and young people.

We call on those in power to see the help young people need and strengthen the support they get.

We work with others and pioneer new ways to reach more of those who need help.

Thanks to our thousands of supporters, volunteers and staff, The Children’s Society is transforming children’s lives every day. For the price of just two cups of coffee every month you can change lives. Will you join us?
